PMMVY, or the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (प्रधानमंत्री मातृ वंदना योजना), is a maternity benefit scheme of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development. It has been implemented since 1 January 2017 across India except Odisha and Telangana, according to a Lok Sabha answer dated 4 April 2025. The money is sent by DBT to the mother's bank or post office account.

This independent guide is not the PMMVY portal. It explains PMMVY 2.0 benefits, eligibility, documents, how registration works, and what the "PMMVY login" on the portal is actually for. Facts are as of 14 October 2026.

What is PMMVY 2.0?

PMMVY is part of Mission Shakti, under its "Samarthya" sub-scheme, and gives cash support under the National Food Security Act, 2013, according to a PIB backgrounder of 24 August 2025.

PMMVY 2.0 was introduced in April 2022 under Mission Shakti. Its main change was extending the benefit to the second child if the child is a girl. PIB said in August 2025 that the amounts were unchanged, and we found no newer change.

PMMVY benefits and installments

Here is the official benefit structure, from the Lok Sabha answer (4 April 2025), the PIB backgrounder (24 August 2025) and state copies of the guidelines (Nagaland Mission Shakti leaflet, Ladakh HelpHub):

ChildInstallmentAmountCondition

For the first child, the Lok Sabha answer says that with Janani Suraksha Yojana support after an institutional delivery, a woman gets on average about Rs 6,000 in total. The Ladakh help page adds that the second-child benefit comes after completing immunisation within 14 weeks.

Who is eligible for Matru Vandana Yojana

A pregnant or lactating woman qualifies if she falls in any one of these groups (from the Nagaland state leaflet, a copy of the central guidelines):

  • SC or ST women.
  • Women with 40% or more disability.
  • BPL or NFSA ration card holders.
  • PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat) beneficiaries.
  • e-Shram card holders.
  • Women farmers under PM-KISAN.
  • MGNREGA job card holders.
  • Women with net family income below Rs 8 lakh a year.
  • Pregnant or lactating Anganwadi workers, Anganwadi helpers and ASHAs.
  • Any other category notified by the Centre.

Not eligible: women in regular employment with the Central or State government or PSUs, or those getting similar benefits under any law.

Documents needed

According to the Nagaland leaflet and PIB, keep these ready:

  • Aadhaar card.
  • MCP (Mother and Child Protection) card.
  • RCH ID (given when the pregnancy is registered).
  • Aadhaar-seeded bank or post office account in the woman's name.
  • One proof of eligibility from the list above, such as a ration card, e-Shram card or job card.

PMMVY registration: step by step

Most women register through their local health and Anganwadi staff. Official sources describe these steps:

  1. Register your pregnancy at the nearest Anganwadi Centre or with the ASHA, and get your MCP card.
  2. The Anganwadi worker or ASHA fills the PMMVY form online using the PMMVY app or portal.
  3. If you prefer, self-register. PIB says eligible women can enrol directly through UMANG; the Nagaland leaflet mentions a "Citizen Registration" option, and the Ladakh page says you can apply on the PMMVY portal.
  4. Complete at least one antenatal check-up within 6 months of LMP for the first installment.
  5. After delivery, register the birth and finish the first vaccine cycle for the second installment.
  6. Register no later than 270 days after childbirth.

If an online option looks different from what is described, ask your Anganwadi worker. Queries can go to the toll-free helpline 14408, listed by PIB.

PMMVY login: who uses it

Many people search "pmmvy nic in login", "pmmvy login id and password" or "pmmvy 2.0 login". The official portal is pmmvy.wcd.gov.in. Its login is mainly used by field functionaries and officials to enter and process applications. We could not open the portal and could not confirm the exact label of any citizen login, so beneficiaries should not expect a user ID and password from the scheme.

An older address, pmmvy.nic.in, is printed on some state leaflets. We could not confirm whether it still works or redirects, so use the wcd.gov.in address.

PMMVYSoft, mentioned in searches as "pmmvy soft", is the monitoring software launched in March 2023. PIB says it uses Aadhaar authentication, NPCI verification and facial recognition, and sends SMS updates in 12 languages. Those SMS messages are a simple way to track your status.

PMMVY numbers and beneficiary list

There is no public, name-wise PMMVY beneficiary list that we could confirm. The government publishes totals instead:

  • Up to 31 March 2025: 437.49 lakh women enrolled, 390.23 lakh paid, Rs 17,982.59 crore disbursed (Lok Sabha answer, 4 April 2025).
  • The WCD PMMVY dashboard, last updated 13 October 2026, shows 5.04 crore enrolled, 4.32 crore paid and Rs 20,344 crore paid.

Other schemes for women and girls

PMMVY is a central scheme, so it is separate from state cash transfers like Maharashtra's Ladki Bahin Yojana or Madhya Pradesh's Ladli Behna Yojana. For a baby girl's future savings, see our Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana guide. Self Help Group members can also read about Lakhpati Didi.

Safety: registration is free through Anganwadi staff, ASHAs and official channels. This site never asks for your Aadhaar, RCH ID, bank details or OTP. Never share them with unknown callers.
