The Ladki Bahin Yojana, officially the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana (मुख्यमंत्री माझी लाडकी बहीण योजना), is a Maharashtra government cash transfer for women. It is run by the state Women and Child Development (WCD) department and was launched in mid-2024. Many people also spell it Mazi Ladki Bahin or Ladki Bahini Yojana.

This page is an independent guide, not a government website. We explain the amount, eligibility, the e-KYC drive that removed lakhs of names, and how to check things on the official portal. Every figure below carries the date it refers to, because this scheme has changed a lot since 2024. All facts are as of 14 October 2026.

Ladki Bahin Yojana amount: Rs 1,500, not Rs 2,100

Eligible women get Rs 1,500 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their bank account. As reported by the Free Press Journal (2 April 2026) and Mahaenews (12 October 2026), the amount was still Rs 1,500 in October 2026.

What about Rs 2,100? A hike to Rs 2,100 was promised, but as reported in July 2026 it had not been implemented. On 12 October 2026, Mahaenews reported that viral social media posts claiming women would get Rs 2,100 from September 2026 under a GR dated 5 October were misleading. According to that report, no GR has been issued to raise the amount to Rs 2,100. So treat any message promising Rs 2,100 as false until the state government announces it officially.

Who is eligible (पात्रता)

According to news reports from 2026, the main conditions are:

  • Woman resident of Maharashtra aged 21 to 65 years.
  • Married, divorced and destitute women are covered.
  • Annual family income up to Rs 2.5 lakh.
  • A bank account in her own name for DBT.

During the 2025 to 2026 scrutiny, the government removed beneficiaries for reasons such as income above the limit or income-tax payment, age above 65, already getting Namo Shetkari (farmer) benefits, a four-wheeler in the family, government employment, and male applicants. These were reported exclusions; we have not seen the full official list from the Government Resolution (GR), so do not treat this list as complete.

Why lakhs of names were removed in 2025 to 2026

The scheme went through a large verification drive. As reported:

  • At its peak, about 2.43 crore women were counted as eligible (Deccan Chronicle, 10 May 2026).
  • About 68 lakh accounts were closed for not completing e-KYC, and active accounts fell to about 1.75 crore (Free Press Journal, 2 April 2026).
  • About 80 lakh women became ineligible after the e-KYC deadline, including about 12 lakh above the income limit and over 4.5 lakh above age 65 (The Hitavada, 2 June 2026).
  • Over 92 lakh names were removed after verification, including about 14,000 male applicants (Outlook Money, 13 July 2026).

The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister said there would be no recovery from ordinary ineligible beneficiaries (Free Press Journal, 2 April 2026). Separately, about 12,900 government employees who allegedly took benefits faced salary deductions, as reported by Navbharat Live (27 April 2026). Outlook Money reported in July 2026 that grievances were being examined and eligible cases may be restored.

e-KYC and the last date

e-KYC became mandatory in September 2025. The deadline was extended several times, and as reported, the final date for correcting e-KYC responses was 30 April 2026. The WCD department said it would not be extended further. We could not confirm whether any e-KYC window has reopened since then.

For the full timeline, step-by-step process and what to do if you missed it, read our detailed Ladki Bahin Yojana e-KYC guide (ई-केवायसी).

Many people search for a "Ladki Bahin Yojana last date" to apply. We found no confirmed report that fresh applications are open in 2026. Check the official portal or your Anganwadi centre before trusting any "last date" you see on social media.

How to check status or update details

The official portal is ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in. Note the spelling: "ladakibahin", with an extra "a". Addresses like "www.ladki bahin yojana.gov.in" are not the real portal. We could not open the portal ourselves during research, so menu names below are described in general terms.

  1. Open the official portal on your phone or computer and check that the address ends in maharashtra.gov.in.
  2. Look for an applicant login or status option and follow the on-screen instructions. Enter details only on the .gov.in site, never on a lookalike page.
  3. After login, look for your application or payment details (हप्ता, installment).
  4. If the screen looks different or the site does not load, try later, or visit your nearest Anganwadi centre or Setu Suvidha Kendra for help.
  5. For a stopped payment, ask the Anganwadi worker or the district WCD office to check whether e-KYC or a declaration answer caused it.

Older guides mention the Nari Shakti Doot app. We could not confirm what that app does today, so rely on the portal or your Anganwadi centre.

Installments (हप्ता) and payment updates

Payments are monthly, but dates vary. Here is what was reported:

  • About 1.57 crore women received the February 2026 benefit (Deccan Chronicle, 10 May 2026).
  • Pending March and April 2026 stipends were to be paid together as Rs 3,000 (reported 10 May 2026).
  • Rs 339.14 crore was approved for Scheduled Caste beneficiaries for August 2026 (Mahaenews, 12 October 2026).
  • Officials expected about 1.77 crore final beneficiaries (Deccan Chronicle, 10 May 2026).

We could not confirm exact credit dates for the June to September 2026 installments. Check your bank passbook or SMS, and the official portal, for your own payment history.

Stay safe: fake messages and agents

This site does not collect your Aadhaar, application number, bank details or OTP, and you should never send them to us or to unknown callers. Keep these points in mind:

  • e-KYC was free of cost, as reported, whether done online or at a Setu Suvidha Kendra or Anganwadi centre.
  • Ignore WhatsApp forwards about Rs 2,100 or a "new GR" unless the state government confirms it.
  • Do not install APK files or apps sent by strangers. Bhopal police warned in November 2025, as reported, that fake APK links about government installments can hack phones.
  • Lookalike websites with names similar to the scheme appear in search results. Use only the .gov.in portal.
  • No agent can get your name restored or payment released for a fee.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Ladki Bahin Yojana amount in October 2026?

As reported in October 2026, eligible women still receive Rs 1,500 per month by DBT. The promised increase to Rs 2,100 has not been implemented, and a 12 October 2026 news report said no Government Resolution has been issued to raise the amount. Treat any message claiming otherwise as unconfirmed until the state government announces it.

Is the Rs 2,100 installment starting from September 2026?

No, according to a Mahaenews report dated 12 October 2026. Viral posts claimed a GR dated 5 October would give Rs 2,100 from September 2026, but the report found no such GR and called the claim misleading. The amount remains Rs 1,500 per month as of that date.

What is the last date for Ladki Bahin Yojana e-KYC?

As reported, the final deadline for correcting e-KYC responses was 30 April 2026, after earlier deadlines of 18 November 2025, 31 December 2025 and 31 March 2026. The WCD department said it would not be extended again. We could not confirm whether any window has reopened, so check the official portal or your Anganwadi centre.

Who is eligible for Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana?

News reports describe eligible beneficiaries as women in Maharashtra aged 21 to 65, including married, divorced and destitute women, with annual family income up to Rs 2.5 lakh. Reported exclusions include income-tax payers, government employees, families with a four-wheeler and women already getting Namo Shetkari benefits. The full official list was not seen by us.

Why was my Ladki Bahin payment stopped?

In 2026 many payments stopped because e-KYC was not completed or a declaration answer was wrong. About 24 lakh beneficiaries had installments halted over incorrect answers, many marked as government employees by mistake, as reported. Ask your Anganwadi worker or district WCD office to check your case. Reports say eligible cases may be restored.

What is the official Ladki Bahin Yojana website?

The official portal is ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in, spelled with "ladaki". Many lookalike sites and blogs use similar names, so check that the address ends in maharashtra.gov.in. This guide is independent and is not connected to the government portal.

Can new women apply for Ladki Bahin Yojana in 2026?

We found no confirmed report that new applications are open in 2026. Before paying anyone or filling a form, ask at your Anganwadi centre or Setu Suvidha Kendra, or check the official portal. Do not trust social media posts that give an application last date without an official source.
