Under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana (माझी लाडकी बहीण योजना), every beneficiary had to complete e-KYC to keep receiving Rs 1,500 a month. e-KYC links your application to your Aadhaar using an OTP and asks a few declaration questions about income, job and family.

How Ladki Bahin e-KYC was done online

Navbharat Live (27 April 2026) described the online process like this. Menu names on government portals change, so look for similar options if your screen is different.

  1. Open the official portal ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in and check that the address ends in maharashtra.gov.in.
  2. Look for an option such as "e-KYC" on the home page.
  3. Enter the beneficiary's Aadhaar number and the captcha shown.
  4. Enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. Type it only on the official page; never tell it to anyone.
  5. Read each declaration question slowly and answer truthfully, especially the question about government employment.
  6. Submit and note any confirmation message or take a screenshot.

If the OTP does not arrive, or the site is slow, try at another time. OTP failures and server downtime were among the reasons for extensions, as reported in January 2026.

Stay safe. Applying for government schemes is free on official portals. Never pay an agent to get a name on a list, never share an OTP, Aadhaar or bank details with callers, and never install scheme apps sent on WhatsApp.

Offline e-KYC and special cases

Women without a smartphone could complete e-KYC at a Setu Suvidha Kendra or an Anganwadi centre, free of cost, as reported by Navbharat Live in April 2026.

Some women need extra steps. As reported by PTI (19 November 2025):

  • Widows, divorced women and women whose father or husband has died had to complete their own e-KYC.
  • They also had to submit a verified death certificate, divorce certificate or court order to the district WCD Officer.

In January 2026, the minister also said Anganwadi workers would physically verify cases, as reported by IANS.

The wrong-answer problem: why payments stopped

The biggest problem was not missing e-KYC but answering it wrongly. As reported by the Deccan Chronicle (10 May 2026) and the Free Press Journal (2 April 2026):

  • About 24 lakh beneficiaries had installments halted because of incorrect e-KYC answers.
  • Many were wrongly marked as government employees because of a confusing Marathi question.
  • About 20 lakh corrected their details by 30 April 2026.
  • Pending March and April 2026 stipends were to be paid together as Rs 3,000.

About 68 lakh accounts were closed for not completing e-KYC, according to the Free Press Journal (2 April 2026). By 10 May 2026, 1.88 crore women had completed e-KYC, as reported.

Missed the e-KYC deadline? What you can do

There is no confirmed online fix that we can point to after 30 April 2026. These practical steps are your best options:

  • Visit your Anganwadi centre and ask the worker to check your status and whether your case is pending.
  • If you are a widow or divorced woman, make sure your certificate or court order reached the district WCD Officer.
  • Ask about the grievance process. Outlook Money reported on 13 July 2026 that grievances were being examined and eligible cases may be restored.
  • Keep your bank passbook updated so you can see if payments restart.

Do not pay anyone who promises to "restore" your name. Restoration, where allowed, goes through official verification.
