Abua Awas Yojana Jharkhand: List, Status and Eligibility

What Abua Awas Yojana gives

As reported by Outlook India (8 February 2024), each selected family gets Rs 2 lakh in four instalments to build a three-room pucca house. The first instalment was Rs 30,000 per family by DBT, and an official said construction should be finished within 12 months.

As reported by GKToday (30 October 2023), the house design is:

• 31 sq m with three rooms and one kitchen.
• Toilet built through Swachh Bharat Mission or other schemes.
• House registered in the name of a woman of the family.
• Up to 95 days of unskilled work under MGNREGS for the family.

Compare this with PMAY-Gramin, which gives Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh in difficult and IAP areas for a minimum 25 sq m house. Our state awas yojana list compares Jharkhand with other states.

Target, phases and 2026 budget

Early rollout: in the Kolhan region, 2,92,624 families applied and the first phase there covered 24,827 families with acceptance letters and first instalments, as reported in February 2024. A separate statement about 20 lakh houses for the poor by 2027 refers to a wider housing goal, not the AAY target. We could not find reliable figures for houses completed or instalments paid in 2025 and 2026, or whether the phase 3 target was met.

Who is eligible (priority groups)

As reported by GKToday (October 2023), priority goes to:

• Families living in kutcha houses.
• Homeless or destitute persons.
• PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) members, given priority.
• Families affected by natural calamities.
• Rescued bonded labourers.
• People who have not benefited from any other housing scheme.

Who is excluded

As reported, families are not eligible if they own a four-wheeler or fishing boat, or a three- or four-wheeler for farming; if a member is a current or retired government or semi-government employee or a public representative; if they pay income tax or professional tax; if they own a refrigerator; or if they have 2.5 acres of land with at least one irrigation device, or 5 acres of irrigated land. The official order was not available to us, so confirm the current list at your block office.

How applications were taken

Applications were collected at the "Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar" camps, planned across 4,351 panchayats and 50 wards, as reported in January 2024. We could not confirm any later online application window. Searches for an Abua Awas Yojana form PDF or "online apply" lead to many unofficial sites. No official downloadable form was confirmed in our sources, so do not pay anyone for a "form" and ask at your panchayat or block office whether new applications are being taken.

Abua Awas Yojana list and status check

A state portal for Abua Awas is widely mentioned online, at an address on the jharkhand.gov.in domain, but we could not open or verify it, so we do not link it here. The scheme also has a listing on the national myScheme directory (linked below), though its details did not load when we checked. Menu names on state portals change often, so we cannot give exact clicks.

A safe way to check your name or status:

1. Visit your Gram Panchayat or Block (Prakhand) office and ask for the Abua Awas beneficiary list (लाभार्थी सूची) for your village.
2. Carry your camp application receipt or acceptance letter if you have one. Show it only to officials at the office.
3. If you use a website, make sure the address ends in .gov.in. Look for a beneficiary list or status option; if the screen looks different, ask the block office instead of guessing.
4. If an instalment has not reached you, check your bank passbook for DBT credits and then report it to the block office.
5. If unresolved, file a grievance on CPGRAMS or ask the myScheme helpdesk (011) 24303714, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, for the correct contact.

Abua Awas vs PMAY-G, and similar names

Jharkhand is one of four states (with Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Karnataka) where the SECC 2011 and Awaas+ 2018 lists for PMAY-G were not yet saturated as of August 2025, per a Lok Sabha answer. So both PMAY-G and Abua Awas continue in the state. A family cannot normally take two housing benefits for the same house, so ask your block office which scheme applies to you.

Abua Swasthya Suraksha Yojana and the "Abua swasthya card" are different schemes with a similar name. They are not housing schemes and are not covered on this page.

Stay safe from fraud

• Applying is free. Nobody can sell you a place on the list.
• Never share an OTP, Aadhaar number or bank details with unknown callers or WhatsApp messages.
• Beware of fake websites, fake apps (APK files), fake approval letters and agents who promise a house or money for a fee. Report cyber fraud on the national helpline 1930.

Women in the family may also benefit from schemes such as PMMVY for pregnancy support and Ujjwala Yojana for an LPG connection, subject to their own rules.
