This page explains the PM Surya Ghar yojana subsidy, who is eligible, and how to apply on the official national portal. We are an independent guide and cannot process applications.
PM Surya Ghar subsidy amounts
The central subsidy is 60 percent of the system cost for systems up to 2 kW, and 40 percent of the additional cost for 2 to 3 kW, capped at 3 kW (PM India). At benchmark prices, that works out as:
| System size | Central subsidy |
|---|---|
| 1 kW | Rs 30,000 |
| 2 kW | Rs 60,000 |
| 3 kW or more | Rs 78,000 (maximum) |
In other words, Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 18,000 for the third kW. A bigger system does not raise the central subsidy above Rs 78,000.
A PIB document from December 2024 suggests a size based on your monthly use:
| Average monthly use | Suggested capacity | Subsidy |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 150 units | 1 to 2 kW | Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000 |
| 150 to 300 units | 2 to 3 kW | Rs 60,000 to Rs 78,000 |
| Above 300 units | Above 3 kW | Rs 78,000 |
